Taking inspiration from the underwater sound world, Coral Sea aka Ed Banton predominantly uses heavily treated guitar and atmospherics to create spectral, hypnotic and often blissed out soundscapes, in an attempt to represent and recreate the multitude of rhythms and resonances found within water, as well as impart its restorative qualities.

A past chasing the sublime in noise rock bands and drone music pushed him to explore the textural and sound design qualities of the guitar alongside more synthesised and found sounds. Combined with the simple geography of living and growing up in London, on an island nation surrounded by water, the result has been a lifelong fascination with all things aquatic.
