Red Snapper

Lo recordings are proud to announce the continuation of the musical force that is Red Snapper. Unmistakably their sound but undefinably altered via the collaboration with David Harrow and the further influence of Tara Cunningham. But surely its about time we recognise its all about the Saxophone and that there Tom Challenger.

This, their 11th  studio album, consists of an amalgamation of the eight tracks featured on the two recent digital EP releases,  Tight Chest  (Nov 2024)  and Ban-Di-To  (Feb 2025). The album is available on vinyl with beautiful artwork from Paul Flack.

The vinyl houses one EP per side, and consequently each face shines a light on an alternative aspect of the band’s musicality. On side one, the  Tight Chest EP, a beautiful dub-drenched collaboration with Andrew Weatherall acolyte David Harrow  and on the other side, the live band focused recordings of the  Ban-Di-To EP.

The album release is in part to celebrate the 30th  anniversary of the band’s first album,  Reeled and Skinned released via  Warp Records. Hence the  EP collection format and title,  Barb and Feather,  are a conscious and admiring nod back to their debut LP.

All eight tracks hold a burning presence – be it from the blazing heat of the  Ban-Di-To  horns, or the frozen terrain of the chiming and snow-rippling modular synths on  Hold My Hand Up.
